Donation Koala

Thinking about donating?

Here are a few questions we get asked by potential supporters.

What is a Koala?

Koalas are herbivorous marsupials native to Australia. They are tree climbers, have pouches, and are one of Australia’s most iconic animals.

Is a Koala a bear?

No! Koalas are marsupials. You might hear someone call them “Koala Bears”, but rest assured they are completely different creatures.

What do Koalas eat?

Koalas will eat a variety of eucalyptus leaves as well as melaleuca and corymbia (to name a few). Koalas have been known to be one of the few animals on our planet that rarely drink water, as they source the water needed from the leaves they eat.

Why should we save Koalas?

Koalas are essential to our ecosystem – their scat feeds small insects and mammals, as well as providing nutrients to our soil, causing regeneration and expanding biodiversity. Their cuteness helps too. Koalas have been designated “endangered” in 2022 by our Government.

Can I just donate money? Where does it go?

At Coolah Koala, we want to champion the concept of complete donation transparency. Every cent, every artwork contributed, and every minute of time that you donate is accounted for by our team via newsletter. Habitat construction and regeneration, medical treatment, and education are the pillars of sustaining the current Koala population and moving them from endangered to least concerned.

How else can I contribute?

You can bid on artwork in the silent auction section, purchase art accessories, or you can donate artwork for others to bid on.
